This year, Maples, Connick & Brendel was proud to step into the smoke for the first time as a competing team at Grill on the Hill, the annual cookoff benefiting St. Paul’s Early Education Center. We sponsored a team, fired up the grill, and joined a great group of cooks raising money for a cause that matters: giving local kids a strong start in their earliest years of learning.

A First Year Worth Remembering
As first-year competitors, we showed up with more enthusiasm than experience — and quickly learned that grilling for a crowd is a whole different sport than grilling for the family on a Sunday. Between the prep, the flames, and the friendly trash talk from veteran teams, the day flew by. By the time the smoke cleared, our team had a long list of lessons learned and an even longer list of reasons to come back next year.

Supporting St. Paul’s Early Education Center
Grill on the Hill raises funds for St. Paul’s Early Education Center, a program dedicated to early childhood education and care in our community. Supporting organizations like St. Paul’s EEC fits squarely with what we believe at MCB: strong communities start with strong families, and strong families benefit from access to great early learning opportunities for their children.

See You Next Year
A huge thank you to St. Paul’s Early Education Center for organizing such a well-run event, to everyone who came out to eat, vote, and donate, and to the other teams who welcomed us as the new folks in the lineup. We’re already plotting our menu for next year — and yes, we’re bringing a bigger grill.
